This week we highlight Shagha Ariannia.
Shagha is a feminist Iranian multidisciplinary artist who’s art explores political and cultural identity. Her work is where spectacle meets narrative, where dichotomy meets deconstruction ,where post colonialism meets poetry, and where heritage meets love song.
Her most recent work titled “Who Sings the Nation-State” is where she breaks down the lyrical content of national anthems from Iran, Iraq and the U.S. and reconstructs them as love songs in the form of sheet music. This reimagination highlights the beauty of political language both physically and rhythmically.
Her politically charged art continues to challenge boundaries and give you a view from a perspective few have seen.
Dig deeper and keep up w/ her and her work on her Facebook page Shagha Ariannia.
